Bio: Sylvia started her professional career as a classroom teacher, and now for more than a decade has been teaching guilds, seminars, art centers, and regional and national quilt shows, sharing the art of embellishment, appliqué, and creative design. She is now retired from the classroom, but finds herself unable to retire from creating art. Like all true art, her work transcends its genre, and exemplifies the best of abstract art, created in fiber. Sylvia's work has received many awards from organizations such as: Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, Quilters Heritage Celebration, Keepsake Challenge, Asheville Quilt Show, Paducah, and others. Her work has also graced museums: Museum of American Quilters, Piedmont Art Center, William King Art Center, Emory & Henry College, Virginia Quilt Museum, and many others.
Artist's Statement: Quilting has fulfilled, consumed, and brought all my interests to an inexhaustible outlet that satisfies my creative ‘drift.’
